Forecast report

I have to say, this continue assessment is not as easy as I thought.

Color , is not simply 紅、橙、黃、綠、青、藍、紫 , it is very complicated!
The variety, the theory, the value, chroma...I had ever seen before the first lesson. Undeniably, this subject broaden my horizons.

Studying from the beginning.

What is color? Even now, after doing this assessment, I can't tell the answer confidently as color is ever changed.

Forecast is difficult. I can only foung information throught a few channels : internet , magazine, and maybe some advertisement. I want to go to Italy if I were doramouse and have the 隨意門, so that I can collect primary information of Dolce & Gabbana.

Confused, unrest, uncertain about the condition.

Backgroung, culture, economic / political / technological imfluence, celebrities, the brand image, competitors, consumer's desires......all these factors may affect the ideas of designers, how can I find the inspiration of the next season collection?? Oh my god !!!!!!

2009 / 2010 Fall Forecast

Dolce & Gabbana 09/10 Women‧ Fall‧Ready-To-Wear‧ Forecast

According to my observation and analysis, I found that Dolce & Gabbana use black and white almost all the time. Besides, gray and red are also be used very often. Beige, brown, blue, pink, orange, purple, green are usually used to hightlight those fundamental colors.

The colors in those 10 years were changed from familiarity (natural colour with low value / chroma ) into novelty (primary colour with high value chroma) , and then go back to familiarity to move in circles.

I think the duo will use black and white consecutively. And gray, is now become the cosset of them too since it has been chosen in the recent 8 years. Low value & chroma of these hues will be the first choice.

To creat contrastion, I think red, blue, pink and green will be used.

Red and blue are often seen because they are part of Sicily and Mediterranean's traditional color. Most of time, these two hues have kept a low value and chroma in order to punctuate and contrast the strong presence of black/gray/white.

Pink and green will be used to give a spark of the outfits. For example, the shocking pink used in oo, 01, 09's collection. And for the green, it is the familiar hue of rustic or country lifestyle. Maybe, we can meet the rustic lifestyle again in the fall collection 2010.

Don't forget the furs, the exotic animal prints and hints of safari, they are also the favorite elements of Dolce & Gabbana.

Most people like caual wear, such as a T-shirt , a pair of jeans & a pair of converse. That is the common style you can see in Hong Kong everyday, everywhere .
The recent cosset is the women's suit : Black, silver, brown... Beige colored suit with silver-blue strips matched pink chemise with beige shorts to created harmony. And the hat make the whole look more formal.

Dolce & Gabbana 2005‧Fall‧Ready To Wear

Return of a personal, sophisticated elegance, which blends and mixes the Dolce Vita style (typical of the fashion duo) with the inspirations of the Swinging London.

The photos of Jean Shrimpton, that David Bailey used to take in the Sixties, are the starting point to revisit that unforgettable era in a luxurious, lavish way: lines become softer, and the elegance of the clothes is played around a perfect cut, and around a new accord of proportions, accessories and personality.

Color Analysis :
Come from the inspirations of the Swinging London in 60s, the designs of the outfits return to personal, sophisticated elegance.

The duo chose sophisticated colors like dark blue, black, camel, purple and grey to present the inspiration. And the use of white hue on fur, chiffon and feathers, were lighted by the sparkling reflects of diamonds.

2004‧Fall_Ready To Wear

A tribute to the legendary Helmut Newton and the elegant, sensual women he captured in the unforgettable images for Yves Saint Laurent in the 1970’s: these iconic images set the mood for the Dolce & Gabbana women’s Fall/Winter 2004/05 collection, without making any specific reference to the Seventies style.

Color Analysis :
Like Newton in the seventies and eighties, designers presented a woman who was ultra-chic, groomed, powerful—and ripe for sexual misadventure in this year’s collection which shows elegant, sensual, extreme femininity and opulence.

This year, low value and chroma hue like gray and brown (maybe gold) became the fundamental colors of the collection. Green, red, carol, pink and indigo were the highlights of the total sophisticated look.

2003‧Fall_Ready To Wear

The seductive spirit of film icons like Marilyn Monroe inspires the sensual, flirtatious fashions that are signature Dolce & Gabbana.

Contrast is key. Techno nylon pants are paired with romantic fringed embroidered flapper tops; floral silk flirty dresses are worn under oversized nylon parkas with brightly colored strap details. Optical prints in skirts, tops and dresses are contrasted with brightly colored fake fur jackets trimmed in sable or mink. Vivid primary colors punctuate the strong presence of black; a perfectly tailored canary yellow belted coat worn with solid black hose and optical print shoes is one of the highlights of this fresh use of color and contrast.

Pop color—acid yellow, orange, emerald and royal blue—flashed through the collection in shoes, bags and down jackets laden with utility straps and clips.

Techno Romance
meant that Pop Art Color : acid yellow , orange , emerald , royal blue ...

Color Analysis :
Instead of the rustic & countryside style of the collection, this year, the collection inspired from the sensual, flirtatious sprit of film icons like Marilyn Monroe and to show how woman confronts the rigors.

Black was the background hue that to mold the strong image of women. To contrast, designers used a variety of novel, optical colors such as white, silver, canary yellow, yellow, bright orange, hot citrus, bottle green, lavender and pink. These vivid primary colors punctuate and add spark to the strong presence of black.

With the idea of Pop art, the colors were in disorder, and to show the rose of women in rebellion against the rigors. ( Marilyn Monroe was famous for sex appeal, flirtatious… according to her life, she also put a lot of effort to become an enduring star and one of Hollywood’s most recognizable icons.)

Don’t forgot the exotic animal prints (Zebra, leopard and ocelot print) and hints of safari. That’s the duo’s favorite.
