Fall 2002

Dolce&Gabbana‧Fall 2002‧Ready To Wear

Dolce & Gabbana present a collection steeped in the traditions of the rustic Sicilian lifestyle.

The legend is told in the Sicilian town of S. Alfio that there is a chestnut-tree which is 3000 years old and that beneath its inviting branches Queen Juana of Aragon and her one hundred knights took refuge, surprised during her journey by a storm.
And it is below these centuries-old branches that the Dolce & Gabbana woman looks for her roots, once again finds her nobility, rests and relaxes in the safety of old certainties.
Color Analysis :
For the 2002 fall collection, the country lifestyle that the Dolce and Gabbana wanted to show seems lingering from last year. This year, the duo presented their collection in the traditions of the rustic, luxury Sicilian lifestyle.

They used natural colors again such as white, beige, brown(dark tan) and dark blue, with a hint of black. (Principle of Familiarity)

The crude color of mink furs, chinchilla leather and the floral-appliqué details strengthen the rustic mood.

Fall 2001

Dolce&Gabbana‧Fall 2001‧Ready To Wear

Romance was in the air at Dolce & Gabbana. But needless to say, the Italian duo's idea of gracious country life is far from sedate. From a wooden farmhouse emerged glamorous desert bohemians clad in extra-long hip-hugging, double-belted distressed leather pants, billowy striped tops and dangling fox tails. The vintage feeling continued with fitted corduroy trousers and oversize blazers, flea-market suede and fur jackets, and tattered blue jeans. Dolce and Gabbana clearly had a blast mixing the old and the new; slouchy pants and oversize hobo sweaters and scarves alternated with sheer floral camisoles, sharp military coats with multiple diamanté buckles, Wild West fringed bags and tall prairie boots.

Color Analysis :

Fall collection of 2001 was come from the ideas of gracious but bohemian country life.

Black, white, beige, light brown, Burgundy red and the forgettable furs…all of them to form a life style of rural area.

The shocking pink, imply the unruly blast of color, maybe not only for the color, also the enthusiasm in our life.

Still, the duo used low value hues to construct their ideal colors of country life. Not as varied as last year's color, this year is full of gracious familiarity with a little bit novelty.

Dazzle
Inspired by the Middle East, the duo's collection featured everything from gold tapestry-printed dresses to silver palazzo pants to glimmering, striped Lurex T-shirts. Even their interpretation of the current suit craze was appropriately glitzy: there were purple velvet knicker-and-jacket combos and three-piece corduroy riding ensembles with rhinestone-covered berets. How to top off the look? Try a patchwork shearling coat, a colorfully decorated fur or a shiny croc jacket with leopard-print lining and matching hat.If you need still more flash, you can always go for the hoop earrings, bright tights and flower-appliquéd shoes.

Color Analysis :

Inspired by the Middle East, the duo uses a variety of hue to mold outfits into dazzle. Designers noticed the profuse colours under the traditional black smock of Middle East’s women, such as white-gold, silver, silver-purple, violet, pink, dark and grass green, coral, light blue… mixed with the sand like colour ( brown, sandy beige …) & the colorful decorated furs.

The low value of hues to set off by contracting with the high value, bright hues do not make people feel strange, but harmonious.

The life style of Middle East shows an outburst of enthusiasm...
